The Johnston Collection, an East Melbourne house museum crammed full of antiques, has put together a stunning Christmas show which opened on Monday 3rd November and continues through until 28th February 2009.

The Johnston Collection has become famous for its annual Christmas show and this year Five Golden Rings and Other Glorious Things is presented by the Bendigo region and has been put together by some 60 artisans showcasing a superb standard of creative skill.

Each year different artisans and craftspeople from regional Victoria work on the show, groups such as the CWA, embroiderers guild, spinners and weavers, patch workers and textile artists, work on their exhibits for almost the entire year.

Acting Director/Curator of The Johnston Collection, Robyn Ives, said ‘This annual event provides a wonderful opportunity for country Victoria to showcase their amazing skills and creativity. In fact, so popular has our annual Christmas show become, it runs well beyond Christmas to meet the demand from all those wishing to see it.‘

The Johnston Collection is the legacy of the late William R. Johnston, an antiques dealer and collector, who bequeathed his estate for the people of Victoria to enjoy. The Museum is open to the public Monday to Friday with three guided tours daily.
