Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson transformed Australian fashion with their colourful expressions of Australia’s natural and cultural landscape, exuberant Flamingo Follies parades and the flamboyant excess of the Flamingo Park Frock Salon in Sydney’s Strand Arcade.
In this talk the exhibition curator Glynis Jones will explore the influences, compelling stories and unique vision of these iconic Australian designers and look at the development of the publication and exhibition presenting the first in-depth survey of their creative journey. Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson: Step into Paradise is showing at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, October 17 October 2019 – 22 March 2020.
GLYNIS JONES is a fashion and dress curator at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences. Glynis has curated exhibitions, published and lectured on numerous areas relating to dress including the history of Australian Fashion Week, faith and fashion, Australian underwear manufacturers, alternative dress, Australian colonial dress and the work of Australian designers
