SIX SHIVERS OF PLEASURE 2 | An Introduction to the silent language of fine and decorative arts with Nina Stanton | SHIVER 2 – HISTORY

Friday 13 Jul 2007, 10:15 AM – 3:15 PM

This course covers decorative styles, historical events that impact on the development of decorative arts, entrepreneurial figures, research techniques and reading, writing and talking about the fine and decorative arts. It embraces the 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries and touches on furniture, porcelain, paintings, silver and glass.

The course requires no knowledge in the decorative arts, and there are no formal lectures. It is hands-on, participatory and very enjoyable.

SHIVER 2 – HISTORY

Using four examples of how a period of history or an event has shaped decorative art, we explore elements of porcelain, glass, silver and furniture.  At the end of this session we review the work we did on Styles in the previous session.
