It is time to go on another self-drive adventure to Broughton Hall. With Tarago Reservoir as a backdrop, the garden at Broughton Hall is now 28 years old; the banks, lawns, paths, steps and garden beds designed and constructed with eclectic variety and originality. It is a terraced garden of 4 acres, cascading down the slope towards the water, the central wide pathway punctuated by many steps leading down through the garden, but each level can be accessed without using this pathway, and the many steps. Heavily planted with an amazing variety of plants which fill the banks with dramatic foliage, including the formal rose beds with mass plantings of well over 1000 roses, there are many areas to be discovered within the garden.
The design of this garden remains strong and impressive. The planting. original and varied, and the setting, breath-taking. This is a garden to spend time in, slowly moving from one area to another, sitting in every seat, observing, contemplating and relaxing.
With an all inclusive ticket price, the Friends will gain entrance to this beautiful garden for a special guided tour, followed by a light luncheon. There will then be the opportunity to visit the Rare Plant Nursery before heading homeward.
