Join Alisa Bunbury as she explores the history of printmaking in this country through examples selected from the University of Melbourne’s Russell and Mab Grimwade Collection. Discussion will include early etchings by settler Australia’s first printmaker John Lewin and convict artists, and lithographic illustrations of life and landscapes in the colonies by John Skinner Prout, S.T. Gill, Eugene von Guérard, Nicholas Chevalier and others.
ALISA BUNBURY is the Grimwade Collection Curator in the University of Melbourne’s Museums and Collections Department. She has curated exhibitions and written widely on printmaking and colonial Australia, mostly recently editing and writing for Pride of Place: Exploring the Grimwade Collection (The Miegunyah Press, 2020).
