NORFOLK: exploring four great country houses with Suzanne Bravery

The eastern wetlands and broad skies of Norfolk are context for a range of classic country houses within close proximity to London that few other English counties can equal. 

This talk looks at the collections and connections of fifteenth century moated manor house Oxburgh Hall, seventeenth century country house Felbrigg Hall, quintessential Grand Tour house Holkham Hall, home of Anne, Lady Glenconnor, a maid of honour at Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation,  and the spectacular Palladian Houghton Hall,  Norfolk, all once family residences. 

SUZANNE BRAVERY curated and managed house museums at the Historic Houses Trust of NSW (now Sydney Living Museums), including Elizabeth Bay House, Vaucluse House, Elizabeth Farm, Rouse Hill estate and Meroogal.  She managed the Grainger Museum at the University of Melbourne and was a Head Curator at the National Museum of Australia.  Suzanne’s research interests include historic interiors, social history, and conservation housekeeping.
