JANE AUSTEN & THE CINEMA with John Wiltshire

Tuesday 16 Sep 2008, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

During the period of “Austenmania” in the 1990’s, many versions of Jane Austen’s novels were produced. This has been followed by a second phase in which even more Austen-related versions have been released. These include the new ITV productions of Mansfield Park, Persuasion and Northanger Abbey, and a new BBC production Sense and Sensibility with a script by Andrew Davies, the scriptwriter of the famous BBC production Pride and Prejudice (1995). Professor Wiltshire will discuss how these films relate to the novels from which they derive.
