GEORGETTE HEYER: THE REGENCY IN HISTORY & FICTION with Jennifer Kloester

Wednesday 3 Aug 2022, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

In 1935, bestselling author Georgette Heyer wrote her first Regency novel. By 1972 she had written 25 more books set in that fascinating period – the English Regency. With those novels she created a genre and inspired thousands of successful authors (think Bridgerton). Nearly 90 years later she is still selling in the millions and her Regency world has become an archetype of the period. What was it about the English Regency that so inspired Georgette Heyer? How did she do her research and how accurate is the world she created?

Jennifer Kloester is the bestselling author of Georgette Heyer’s Regency World and Georgette Heyer: Biography of a Bestseller. As the acknowledged world expert on Heyer she has given talks around the world including the UK, USA, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. In 2015, Jennifer spoke along with Stephen Fry at the unveiling of Georgette Heyer’s English Heritage Blue Plaque.
