CURIOUSER AND CURIOUSER | The Wunderkammer old and new with Sophia Errey

Wednesday 1 May 2019, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

The wildly mixed collections of exotica which were assembled in European courts and private houses by individuals from the 16th century fascinate us with their exuberance and quirkiness as well as their rich cultural and investigative values. A contemporary revival of interest in these collections has fascinated artists, and led to the creation of exciting variants on a historical form of collecting.

SOPHIA ERREY is an artist, art educator and writer. She is particularly interested in material culture. Sophia has been a regular lecturer at The Johnston Collection since 2015 and her most recent lecture at was A Society Of Friends (2018).
