CLEANING PORCELAIN with Penny Byrne

Thursday 28 Apr 2005, 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM

Recently Johnston Collection staff member Phillip Siggins gave a tax-deductible donation to The Johnston Collection. His donation of $550.00 was used to clean a Meissen style figure of Bacchus and this was money well spent - the transformation is amazing. Byrne, a well qualified, highly regarded professional ceramics conservator, will briefly talk about her work on this piece and then guide you through the process of cleaning ceramics.

Participants will need to bring along an apron and an old towel as well as a small piece of highly modelled/detailed porcelain - a figure with bocage would be ideal. Penny will be looking at how to clean various bodies from translucent hard and soft paste porcelain to bone china, as well as the glazed and unglazed dry bodies.

$40.00 Friends of The WR Johnston; $45.00 Others.

SOLD OUT This event is currently at capacity. If you wish to be added to the waitlist, please email visitorservices@johnstoncollection.org or call The Johnston Collection on (03) 9416 2515 and we will contact you if places become available.
