ALCHEMY & REASON: Glass as Medium and Metaphor with Geoffrey Edwards

Tuesday 1 Jun 1999, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Geoffrey Edwards, Senior Curator of Sculpture and Glass at the National Gallery of Victoria will speak on the history of glass with reference to the way in which glass imagery has long been employed by painters, sculptors, poets and novelists as a pictorial or literary metaphor on unusual poignancy.

The lecture will allude to a number of major works in the Gallery’s famous collection of historical and modern glass. The lecture coincides with the release this year of the new publication Art of Glass: Glass in the collection of the National gallery of Victoria.

An illustrated lecture by a gifted speaker about a fascinating subject- who could forget the recent Art of Glass exhibition at the National gallery of Victoria?
