TAKING TEA with Patricia Begg

Tuesday 10 Jul 2001, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Like his fellow countrymen, Mr Johnston loved a good cup of tea. Australians took the English habit of tea drinking and made it their own. In the comfort of the Kent Room, Patricia will explore the reason why in 1901, just ten years before Mr Johnston was born, the newly formed Commonwealth Government encouraged afternoon tea parties as a socially acceptable way to celebrate Federation.

Please note this event includes tea, cucumber sandwiches and petit fours.
