PT LEO ESTATE SCULPTURE PARK | Walk and Talk with Geoffrey Edwards

Friday 25 Mar 2022, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Come on a self drive adventure with Geoffrey Edwards as he takes The Friends on an exclusive private tour of The Pt Leo Estate Sculpture Park, an outdoor gallery within 330 acres of landscaped grounds. This will be a wonderful chance for The Friends to see this ever-evolving outdoor gallery through the eyes of the curator.

As well as being one of the Trustees of The Johnston Collection, Geoffrey Edwards is also the Pt. Leo Estate’s consultant Sculpture Park curator. Geoffrey’s contribution to the Australian gallery and museum sector is such that in 2015 he received a Museums Australia (Victoria) Lifetime Achievement Award. His career spans time at the National Gallery of Victoria before being appointed as the Director of the Geelong Gallery, a position he held for 15 years before retiring in 2016.

The Pt. Leo Estate Sculpture Park includes works by major international as well as major Australian artists. This impressive roll call includes KAWS, George Rickey, Tony Cragg, Inge King, Boaz Vaadia, Tomnakatsu Matsuyama, Barry Flanagan, Julian Opie, Bruce Armstrong and Lenton Parr. Each work has an explanatory plaque giving details on the artist, a succinct account of their career and a short statement about the significance of the work itself.

This Walk and Talk will a unique opportunity for The Friends to view these amazing sculptures with their curator and at conclusion of the tour, there will be lunch at a nearby restaurant.
