"Inspiration can be found from the past" | AKIRA ISOGAWA Meets Mr Johnston

5 Jul 2010 – 20 Oct 2010

Akira Isogawa, one of Australia’s most internationally celebrated fashion designers, has rearranged The Johnston Collection's Fairhall house museum.  As a fashion designer, Akira is interested in ideas about how we present ourselves. In redressing Fairhall Akira has said that his rearrangement revolves around two major themes - exploring the professional life of William Johnston on the ground floor and his private world on the first floor.  He has imagined Mr Johnston as an obsessive collector with a need to amass and possess objects and how Johnston presented these to his clients and friends.  Applying his famously exquisite design sensibility, Akira Isogawa Meets Mr Johnston gives visitors toFairhall the opportunity to view the Collection through the eyes and aesthetic of this exceptionally talented designer
