CONSIDERING ASPECTS OF BEAUTY: Christmas at The Johnston Collection 2005|06

2 Nov 2005 – 24 Feb 2006

This year’s festive creations promise to help you develop your decorative arts eye while enjoying the spirit of Christmas. With decorations inspired by the line, form, colour, materials and surface ornament found in Mr Johnston’s collection.

By the time the turkey and roast vegetables are on the table in the Green Drawing Room it will take a good eye to tell which parts of the ceramic service are real and which have been created.

The Minton cup William Johnston’s grandmother gave him when he was eight years old is the inspiration for a jack-in-the-box Christmas present.

Portrait miniatures are the inspiration for the presents hanging on a Christmas tree in the White Room. In the Yellow Room another Christmas tree takes its inspiration from the line and form of a candelabra.

This year’s creations promise to help you develop your decorative arts eye while enjoying the spirit of Christmas.
