AFTERNOON TEA WITH LOLA RUSSELL

Friday 9 Jun 2017, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Following on from the Friends First Friday Lecture, City Kid | Lola Russell, here is an opportunity to visit with Lola, and her husband, George Dixon, for afternoon tea. Lola Russell was born and still lives in the oldest residential dwelling in Melbourne’s CBD, which was built in 1850.

In addition to having deep historical ties to Melbourne, Lola was one of Australia’s pioneer actresses. She was the first person to produce a play by Samuel Beckett in Australia plus she and her husband, George Dixon, were in the first Australian movie, CLAY, to win a prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The life of Lola’s family, early Melbourne and that of the cottage are intertwined in her memoirs, City Kid.

Join with The Friends on this visit to Lola and George to learn more about Melbourne’s history, while experiencing an interesting afternoon.
