The Wallace Collection is housed in Hertford House in the elegant Marylebone neighbourhood of London.
The collection of art and decorative objects was assembled by the first four Marquess of Hartford from the 15th to the 19th centuries and was bequeathed to the public by Richard Wallace, philanthropist, Francophile, and illegitimate son of the 4th Marquess.
It is renowned especially for its sumptuous display of Sèvres porcelain, armour, French tortoiseshell inlaid cabinets, and delicate paintings by Boucher and Watteau as well as masterpieces by Rembrandt, Hals, Velasquez, and Reynolds.
Each room, lit by dazzling chandeliers and sparkling display cabinets transports and delights.
