In 1944 young British solider Ulysses meets art historian Evelyn, aged in her sixties, in a ruined wine cellar of a Tuscan Villa. They accidentally discover a repository of hidden artworks. Their lives reunite in 1966 when the Arno River bursts its banks and Florence is under water. There is a huge art restoration effort and out of this a new story is born.
This is the life story of two people as well as a history of Florentine art history which Evelyn describes as “Continuity. Memory. Family.”
