A lifetime spent collecting, David J K Roche has assembled a superb collection of 18th and 19th century English, French, Russian and German decorative arts. 

The lecture Empires & Splendour is taken from the superb catalogue produced by the Art Gallery of South Australia for their exhibition celebrating the David Roche Collection held in Adelaide during 2008. 

Highlights include magnificent Empire, Regency and Russian furniture, porcelain clocks and objects by renowned designers, cabinetmakers and manufacturers such as Chippendale, Thomas Hope, George Smith, Fabergé, Meissen, Worcester, Chelsea, Gardner and more.  A remarkable selection of treasures in this outstanding private collection will be revealed through this lavishly illustrated talk.

Martyn Cook, a fixture at the top end of the Australian antiques trade, has known Adelaide collector David Roche for some 25 years travelling the world for the D J K  Roche Foundation as commission agent.  Since 1982 Martyn Cook Antiques Sydney has specialised in the finest English and French furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries and the decorative arts.
