The 2024 Autumn Country Garden Tour with The Friends will commence at the magnificent Coombe Yarra Valley, (673 Maroondah Highway Coldstream VIC 3770), with a Garden Tour and Devonshire Tea. The home of operatic icon, Dame Nellie Melba, and established in 1909, the guided tour will explore the seven acres of Melba’s gardens. Designed by William Guilfoyle, the architect of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, these gardens contain many rare plants and beautiful old-world trees.
After leaving Coombe, we will journey on to Alowyn Gardens, (1210 Melba Highway Yarra Glen VIC ), a short 12-minute drive away, where we will have a garden visit with light lunch. There will be an introduction to garden talk on arrival, followed by a grazing box lunch, and then we will have the opportunity to explore the seven acres of award-winning display gardens with nine distinct themes. From the Wisteria Arbour to the French Garden and the Maple Courtyard, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Join The Friends on this self-drive adventure, for a relaxing day in the Yarra Valley, exploring the delights of these gardens, and perhaps visiting some vineyards, before the drive back to Melbourne.
