AN INTRODUCTION TO GEORGIAN GLASS | Workshop with Bill Davis

Wednesday 25 Aug 2010, 10:15 AM – 11:45 AM

The invention of English glass of lead by George Ravenscroft in 1674 led to the establishment of the English table glass industry which became the envy of glass manufacturers throughout the industrialised world for over 200 years.

The much admired quality of this glass, its styles and decoration developed during the 18th century will be discussed and appreciated through handling of examples in a hands-on workshop environment.

Bill Davis is glass adviser to The Johnston Collection and a glass collector.
