Description
console table of serpentine form with a drapery formed top with swags and tassels with putto below, on a shaped rockwork plinth. Blackamoor console table has serpentine form on shaped rockwork plinth. Gesso over pine carcass, made in Venice and purchased in Tunisia. Highly ornate console table en-suite with A0018. trompe l'oeil carved fabric effect to table top with carved tassels suspended along the underside; a swathe of fabric falls over the front. The rear support structure is also in the form of draped fabrics and fringes. The lower section of the table shows two black putti, one standing the other seated, wearing loincloths and gesticulating. The base of this section appears as rock-like. two (spare / broken) tassels from the table
